GREEN-WOOD is the latest showcase of unique original works by six North Queensland artists, known collectively as the "Green" painters. Formed in 2010, this group began fresh, raw, and untrained (i.e., 'green').

Their first exhibition in 2013, titled GREEN, was hugely successful with most paintings selling within 24 hours. Their second exhibition in 2016, GREEN AS, was equally successful drawing large numbers on Opening Night and many sales throughout the exhibition period. In 2019, the group exhibited their third exhibition, GREENISH, and in 2021 the group returned for their fourth exhibition titled NOT AS GREEN, demonstrating their ongoing progression.

In 2023 the group is back again with a fresh, exciting exhibition titled GREEN-WOOD. The artists share many common interests despite quite different backgrounds and training – each with their own unique expression, approach and art practice reflected in divergent subject choices. Using different mediums such as oil, acrylic and watercolour, they explore various themes including landscape, figurative, and portraiture.

"We've been painting over the past 18 months for this exhibition." Pete Faulkner said. "We all have the passion to paint and express ourselves individually. The GREEN-WOOD artists have their own distinct styles and use different materials, colours, and equipment to demonstrate this. Our diversity and evolving interests and approaches help keep us together and maintain us as a painting group."

The GREEN-WOOD exhibition features work by Pete Faulkner, Carol Giuliany, Lynda Hannah-Williams, Bruce Parry, Sue Pullman and Patricia Voltz.

The exhibition is made possible through the generous sponsorship of Ruth Medd, Chair of Australian Chocolate with additional sponsorship support from Mission Beach businesses Art Print Frame, Charley's and Mission Solar + Electrical.

Enjoy an evening with the artists at the Exhibition Opening Night (Friday, 21 July, 6pm). The GREEN-WOOD exhibition will be on display from 21 July – 15 August at Mission Arts and can be viewed daily during Gallery Open Hours (10am-2pm).
